I have uploaded a jpeg to divshare. This indicates the following:
* layout for westfield shopping center
* layout for the new housing units just south of the westfield center. I guess these were part of the deal. I spoke to a few of the residents today and there is apparently a nice community feel, though poor sound insulation(!)
* layout for new Woodlane and Shepherds Bush Central and Overground stations
* Orange overlay: My thoughts on the eastside arcade as regards layout. Provides two access paths east/west, including a cycle path in each. A central hall positioned to maximise natural light. Spaces on either side for various retail/office/community uses.
* Yellow overlay: My thoughts on a small street market between westfield and The Green.
* Red overlay: area for high density, affordable housing and other uses.
* Blue overlay: indicates 'shared space' that closes off The Green to private vehicles and better enables us to link the 3 sides of The Triangle. The only vehicles allowed are public transport, taxis, emergency and bicycles. Note the widened pavements on north and east sides of the green. This should enable more street cafe's, restaurants, etc.
* The red arrows (roughly drawn) indicate my thoughts on the traffic flow to enable us to close off the north and east sides of the green. Essentially we will use the new roads at teh north of the westfield center to create a larger gyratory system. Northward traffic has been diverted to the road behind the Shepherds Bush Empire.
Thats enough from me for the mo'
